Tuning And Improving Your Agility

If you are using agile methods and you are looking for new ideas and next steps, this one day course held by David Hussman will pump you up. Whether your agility is flourishing or challenged, you will leave with a collection of tools for tuning and evolving your agility. Participants will review their existing skills and define specific ideas for improvement. From building community to defining products to promoting development agility, hands on exercises engage people to rethink existing habits and learn new techniques.
David has coached pragmatic adoption of agile methods for hundreds of companies around the world. He has been creating software for many years in a variety of domains: digital audio, digital biometrics, medical, financial, retail, and education to name a few. Objectives (tools and techniques participants will learn)
- Techniques for assessing and improving your existing processes
- The power of test driving more than just coding (e.g. test driving user stories)
- Various newly emerging agile practices
- The importance of connecting with other projects (agile or not) in planning and more
- Tools for growing your project (multiple team / program development)
- Monitoring the indicators helpful in knowing when to add, change, drop various practices
Audience (who will benefit)
Anyone working who has been using agile methods for more than 4 iterations will benefit from this course: scrum masters, developers, product owners, testers, managers, or anyone else who is part of an agile community using agile methods like Scrum – XP – Lean. As experience is the best teach, the course draws on the experience of the participants to make the course richer and more meaningful.
Course Outline (what we will do)
One Day Course: Creative introductions (e.g. who are you as an agilist); Discussion and assessment of current practices and their success; Small group exercise around improving existing / common agile practices. Discussion and exercises around leading and promoting agility; Intro to advanced agility and how the ideas will work or challenge your project; Presentation of scaling agility and connecting with other projects/delivery teams; Exercises for distributed communities and variations on tracking and planning.
